September 11,2024 - VIP Dinner for Investors - Open Secret’s Wilmington producers, Erik and Candice Horbacz organized an excellent VIP dinner at Wilmington’s beautiful restaurant, Origins Food and Drink. We have raised $50,000 from that dinner. Many of the contributors to the film were present as Producers, Erik and Candice, the film’s producer and director, Kerry David who introduced her trailer to the room, followed by a message from the most recent contributors to the film, Tim Kennedy and Matt Beaudreau of Apogee.

July 2024-New Hanover School Board of Education fires Superintendent Charles Foust.
November 8, 2023 - Judge awards $140M in damages to victims of Michael Earl Kelly.
June, 2023 - Class action lawsuit by 13 x ‘John Doe’ victims, against New Hanover County is settled for the sum of $5.75Million, plus changes to the current school district’s programmatic commitments and teacher and student training.
March 10, 2020 - Attorney Wayne Bullard resigns, citing, “extreme harassment.”
February 7, 2020 - Tim Markley resigns after a closed session meeting between the school board of Education and his attorney, Wayne Bullard. Superintendent’s attorney, Wayne Bullard. He leaves with a severance package of $195,000, plus $32,966.66. Despite his contract stating he’s owe the school district $50,000 for resigning early.
February 4th, 2020 -Effective March 1st, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources resigns quietly during a special meeting by the New Hanover County Board of Education. Welmers gave a child predator reference for a new position knowing why she was leaving New Hanover County, giving credence to the accusations that administrators new what was going on.
Jan 29, 2020 - Peter Frank suspended from New Hanover Schools.
August 2019, Rick Holliday retires as Deputy Superintendent of New Hanover Schools, hours before the New Hanover County Board of Education announced opening an internal investigation into the district's handling of Michael Earl Kelly's allegations.
June 2019, Michael Earl Kelly pleads guilty to 59 counts of felony sex crimes against New Hanover County students. Admits to FBI he was investigated - and cleared - by New Hanover County Schools. Now serving 31 years.
