“Open Secret,” examines how corrupt governing bodies in New Hanover County, NC, allowed for systemic discrimination, and child sexual assaults to permeate its school district-for decades.

Just the right combination of unscrupulous adults, in powerful administrations, caused immense suffering for victims and their families; extending far beyond the playground. These crimes were covered-up and unreported by key administrators, elected officials, and faculty members. How does a culture devolve to the point it protects predators over children?

We follow a handful of courageous residents over five years as they take matters into their own hands to challenge generational corruption to end the suffering. The film’s heart is the central figures who bravely stood up to tyranny, seeking justice and accountability for their community.
