“Open Secret,” examines how corrupt governing bodies in New Hanover County, NC, allowed for systemic discrimination, and child sexual assaults to permeate its school district-for decades.

Just the right combination of unscrupulous adults, in powerful administrations, caused immense suffering for victims and their families; extending far beyond the playground. These crimes were covered-up and unreported by key administrators, elected officials, and faculty members. How does a culture devolve to the point it protects predators over children?

We document a handful of courageous residents over five years as they take matters into their own hands to combat the corruption, end the sexual abuse and discrimination - to seek justice and accountability for their community.
